Unit control and information system

The unit control and information system is a large-scale system used for controlling and monitoring the operation of nuclear unit technologies from the main and emergency control rooms.

The system includes a GPS real-time source, which is used internally within the system and externally for other data source systems.

It is implemented on the SandRA platform, utilizing the SandRA Synergy DCS upper-level HMI. The system performs Category C safety functions according to ČSN EN 61226. It is interconnected with individual systems controlling the primary and secondary circuits.

The control and information computer system, supplied by ZAT a.s., ensures reliable control of primary and secondary circuit technologies that are essential for the operation of nuclear units.

Alarm system for abnormal conditions

This system is designed to alert operators to faults or abnormal conditions in technology and control, thereby aiding timely and successful intervention by the personnel. Technically, it is an independent visual and audible signaling and information system, separate from other unit control elements.

Functions of the new system:
Upon receiving a binary signal or a combination of signals from the automation measuring circuit or another device, the corresponding window with textual information is activated on the light panel, accompanied by an audible indication. The light signaling changes according to the event’s development and operator interaction, cycling through different states indicated by varying/multi-level light signal frequencies. All events are thoroughly archived for later analysis.
The system is located in vital areas of the nuclear power plant and is classified as Safety Class 3 (SC3) according to Decree No. 329/2017 Coll. It thus meets higher standards according to the stated decree and Nuclear Act No. 263/2016 Coll.

Advantages of the new system:

  • Event differentiation and recording with an accuracy of 1 ms
  • Input-output response time within 1 second
  • Time synchronization via GPS
  • Easy system reconfiguration
